This is a fast-growing, digitally driven business operating at scale across the UK, supporting a large and diverse customer base. The organisation combines strong commercial focus with significant investment in technology, using data and digital platforms to drive performance and customer experience.

Following a period of sustained growth, the business is entering a new phase with ambitious plans to further expand its reach, capabilities, and product offering. Technology sits at the heart of this, with ongoing investment across web platforms, cloud infrastructure, and data.

The culture is fast-paced and delivery-focused, with teams working closely together to solve problems and continuously improve systems and processes. The team operates from a modern office in Newcastle city centre, with a hybrid working model of 3 days per week onsite.

An opportunity has arisen for a Web Developer to join a growing engineering team responsible for a portfolio of high-traffic digital platforms.

You’ll play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining web applications, working across both back-end and front-end technologies. The environment is highly collaborative, with close interaction between engineering, product, and wider business stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining web applications using PHP (Laravel)
  • Building responsive, user-friendly interfaces using modern front-end technologies
  • Designing and optimising databases for performance and scalability
  • Integrating third-party APIs and internal systems
  • Deploying and managing applications in a cloud (AWS) environment
  • Monitoring performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring security best practice
  • Contributing to technical discussions, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives

This role offers the chance to work on meaningful, business-critical systems within a company that is actively investing in its technology stack.

You’ll be a well-rounded developer with strong back-end expertise and a solid grounding in modern web technologies. You enjoy solving problems, take ownership of your work, and are comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment.

Key experience includes:

  • Strong PHP development experience, ideally with Laravel
  • Solid front-end skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and ideally React or Vue)
  • Experience working with relational databases and APIs
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS
  • Experience with version control and CI/CD practices
  • A good understanding of performance, scalability, and secure development

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Exposure to CMS platforms or analytics tooling
  • Experience integrating third-party systems
  • Interest in mobile development (e.g. React Native)

Above all, you’ll be someone who is collaborative, curious, and motivated to contribute to a growing, technology-driven business.
