About CoComply

CoComply is building AI-Native Services Governance — the control layer that brings services spend under management at major corporations, typically with 500 - 5,000 employees.

Services spend (consultants, contractors, agencies, statement-of-work suppliers) is the second-largest line on the corporate P&L after payroll, and the least well-governed. It falls between HR, Procurement, Legal and Finance, and their systems (HRIS, P2P, CLM, ERP) — owned by no function, reflected by no system end-to-end.

Worker classification is making the gap visible: since UK off-payroll rules hit the private sector in 2021, the tax liability has sat with the engaging organisation, and HMRC has shown it will collect.

We closed our Venture round in April 2026 and are targeting rapid growth in this multi-billion pound global market.

Job Summary

CoComply is hiring a full stack engineer to join a small, experienced founding engineering team. We’re looking for someone who can genuinely contribute from day one alongside existing engineers.

Our day-to-day combines conventional full stack engineering (PHP/Laravel, Vue.js, TypeScript) with heavy use of AI coding tools and agentic workflows. Hands-on, practical experience with AI-assisted development (Claude Code, Codex etc) is a requirement for this role.

We value engineers with a strong commercial product mindset. We want people who can weigh a refactor against shipping a new feature and make the right call for the business. If your instinct is to improve code quality only when it actually moves the needle, you’ll feel at home.

The candidate should possess a deep understanding of modern software engineering technologies and practices as well as excellent soft skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute as a core member of a small, close-knit founding engineering team focused on shipping value to customers at speed.
  • Develop and maintain web applications using PHP/Laravel, TypeScript, Vue.js and related web technologies.
  • Use AI-assisted coding tools (e.g. Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini) as part of your everyday workflow, not as a novelty but as a core part of how you plan, write and review code.
  • Design, build and extend agentic features and LLM-backed workflows within the product, including prompt design, tool/function calling and the wider orchestration around them.
  • Solve for the user with frictionless UX and clean UI design.
  • Contribute across the full software development lifecycle: planning, requirements, build, test and deployment.
  • Write clean, well-documented, well-tested code and uphold our existing standards across a codebase with over 12k automated tests.
  • Help shape our engineering practices, patterns and internal documentation as the team grows.
  • Implement security and data protection measures.
  • Stay current with developments in AI tooling, agentic systems and modern web engineering, and bring that thinking into the team.

Requirements:

  • Hands-on, practical experience using AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini or similar) on real, production-quality work. A clear view of what good looks like in prompting, including decomposing work into steps, making sensible assumptions and recognising when a single prompt isn’t the right tool.
  • Working understanding of agents, tool/function calling and how LLM-integrated systems fit together. Bonus if you’ve actually built something with agents.
  • Commercial product mindset. Able to prioritise pragmatically between delivery, maintenance and refactoring based on the needs of the business, not just the code.
  • Strong proficiency in PHP, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML and CSS. You won’t be writing the majority of code by hand, so we care more about you being fluent enough to read, review and direct it than ticking a specific framework box.
  • Demonstrable experience with Laravel and Vue, or comparable frameworks (e.g. React on the front end) with the ability to get productive in our stack quickly.
  • Solid testing experience across the pyramid (unit, integration and end-to-end) and an understanding of why each layer matters. Test-first or test-aware working style.
  • Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS and CI/CD.
  • Experience working with relational databases and debugging real-world performance issues (indexing, query plans, caching, N+1s, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Git and modern code review workflows.
  • Experience building applications end-to-end, ideally in products that have lived long enough to get complicated.
  • Track record of meaningful tenure in previous roles. We’re looking for engineers who stay long enough to own outcomes, not a string of short contracts.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills. You’re comfortable carrying a technical conversation, contributing ideas and pushing back constructively.

Nice to haves:

  • Production experience building with agents, tool calling or LLM orchestration.
  • A background in lawtech/legaltech or other regulated domains.
  • Programming in Python.
  • Deeper experience with LLMs, RAG techniques and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of Docker, containerisation and serverless technologies.
  • AWS Certification is a plus.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • 4+ years as a full stack engineer working across a modern web stack is required. Direct experience with Laravel, Vue.js and AWS is preferred but not essential. We’re open to upskilling the right candidate.

Hiring Process:

  • 30-min intro screening call with CTO + Senior Engineer.
  • In person at Alderley Park, combining a 60-min technical conversation with CTO + Senior Engineer and a 1hr Culture & Values interview with CEO, held on the same day.
  • Offer.

We are an equal-opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
